Yale University — the 3rd oldest higher education institution in the United States — is consistently in the top 20 in the world according to major university rankings. Its origin dates back to the 1640s, when colonial clerics wanted to create a college to preserve the tradition of European liberal education.
Its foundation, in fact, happened in 1701. The institution is now part of the Ivy League (a group that brings together the eight most prestigious universities in the United States) and is located in the city of New Haven, in the state of Connecticut, in the northeast of the United States.

Yale in numbers
With its mission of “cultivating citizens to lead and serve in all spheres of human endeavor,” Yale today has about 13,000 students. Of these, about 6 thousand are undergraduate, and there are another 7,500 graduate and professional development students. In total, there are almost 3 thousand foreign students at the University, coming from 123 different countries.
Throughout its history, Yale has graduated five American presidents – one of them, Bill Clinton, met Hillary on campus -, 19 Supreme Court justices, 13 billionaires and many heads of State. How much does it cost to study there?
The institution offers need-based aid (that based on family income) and today 51.46% of its students receive aid. Each school has its own procedures for applying for financial assistance or scholarships. The cost to study there is$ 53,430 per year, not taking into account the student's personal expenses.
In the daily life of the campus, there are some curious facts. One is the cult bulldog Handsome Dan, the University's mascot since 1889. The other is the rivalry with Harvard, which reaches its apex with an annual American football game known as the Game. Since 1875, the game has gathered thousands of students and alumni in one big party.

The Yale School of medicine, accessible to students who have completed preparatory courses at other institutions.
School of Music
As the name implies, it offers Masters and doctorates in music, as well as a certificate for professional musicians.

It offers master's and scientific master's degrees in the field of Public Health.

How to apply
Yale's selection process follows the pattern of most universities in the U.S. and involves taking standardized and English proficiency tests, reviewing academic curriculum, submitting letters of recommendation, and writing essays. There is no minimum score required to guarantee a place. However, some of the college freshmen's most recent scores averaged 710 on the SAT out of 800 possible points; and 32 on the ACT out of 36 points.

For high school students, One program worth keeping an eye on is Yale Young Global Scholars. Each year, it selects high school juniors from around the world for a two-week course at the University.
